Chemical Peels

What are Chemical Peels?
Chemical Peels are an excellent way to even-out skin tones, reduce fine lines and invigorate the skin. Gentle acids are used to exfoliate the skin, stripping away the dead outer layer of your skin and allowing new, fresh smoother skin with a more even tone and texture to surface. Peels also help rejuvenate and hydrate your skin, balance oil production and give it back its natural glow.

What conditions do Chemical Peels treat?
Peels are great way to treat irregular pigmentation, sun damage, acne, mild scarring and rough skin texture.

What is the typical treatment like and how many will I need?
A variety of acids and even a combination of acids may be used for a peel. Depending on your goals, we offer superficial peels which have essentially no down-time and medium depth peels, after which you may peel for two to seven days. A series of two to four superficial peels may give the same results as one medium depth peel. We offer a variety of strengths including Micropeel, Vitalize Peel, VI Peel, Melanage Peel, Jessner’s Peel and TCA Peel.

What risks are involved with Chemical Peels?
If you have a history of cold sores (“fever blisters”), a chemical peel could trigger an outbreak. Your doctor may prescribe antiviral medication to take prior to your peel. Risks associated with the peel include mild tingling or burning sensation during the procedure, redness, irritation, peeling, and irregular pigmentation.
